2 Corinthians 13

Thanks for sharing!

Take a moment to read 2 Corinthians 13 before reading the devotional below.

We close a long series through 1 and 2 Corinthians today! If you’ve been with us, congratulations on reading two more books of the Bible! If you missed some, you can always go back and read more using the Category search on the right side of the screen.

Paul is closing his letter with what sounds like a threat. “I’m coming, and I warned you to get rid of the sin you were allowing…” It’s heavy-handed, and he throws his authority down pretty hard. He stands for the truth, and he won’t let it be diluted or corrupted by false teaching and harmful living. But it’s not all bad. He gives them some important guidance on how to make things better.

Here’s your freedom for today:

It’s never too late to turn around.

In verse 11, Paul helps them understand how they can get back on track before he comes: “Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.” Not a bad to-do list. There is something life-giving and hopeful about setting those as your ideals. Read those words a few times over. What would it mean in your life to choose joy? To be on a growth track? To encourage others? To live in peace? Take time to pray and ask God to show you a path for increasing those areas in your life.
